Deaths, dates and trees. These are three of the main components in the shows for this part. The 2nd part contains No. 6, Usagi Drop and Mayo Chiki!. No. 6 brings up the topic of the serum again whereas Daikichi plants a tree for Rin in Usagi Drop. Last we have Kinjirou dating Usami, but paying more attention to Subaru in Mayo Chiki!. Plenty of fun adventures between the three shows, especially since Blood-C and Mawaru Penguindrum didn't air.
No. 6
Safu is finally back in No. 6 to attend her grandmother’s funeral. She is then given the possessions that her grandmother had with her. None of them were the other crafting hook. Safu even noticed that the clothes in her possessions box did not smell like her grandmother anymore. She knew something was wrong, and knew that the only person that would have an idea was Shion. So her first stop is Shion’s house. She met with Shion’s mother and found out that Shion is safe, but Shion’s mother tells Safu not to try to find him. She also doesn’t want her to worry about anything and just go about her life. Too bad Safu can’t forget about the dream she saw. She must find Shion, but she is stopped by the government before she can try.
Shion, on the other side of No. 6, is first seen helping the Dogkeeper bury one of the dogs. They have to be really careful about digging a hole to bury the dog. Then Rat comes by and interrupts them. He insults the Dogkeeper plenty before he leaves again. The scene doesn’t last much longer. Soon Shion is back at the house with Rat where they are discussing about what is happening to the people in No. 6. Shion still wants to make a serum and has talked to Rikiga to help with it. Rat becomes furious and attacks him. No one dies, but Shion leaves the house. After he left, Rat receives a letter asking for them to help rescue Safu. I doubt that Rat will want to rescue her, but I do hope that one or both of them save her.
Usagi Drop
In the 6th episode of Usagi Drop, Rin is beginning grade school. In honor of that, Daikichi wants to plant a tree. Rin takes out her loquat seeds and says that they should plant them. After all, she wants to be able to eat the loquats from them. It may take years, but she is willing to wait. She then asks Daikichi if he has ever had a tree planted for him. He tells her that he had one planted when he was born, an olive tree. He didn’t have too many happy memories of it because his sister didn’t like the fact that he had the fragrant one, while she only had the tea olive tree. Rin becomes upset because she has no idea if she ever had one planted when she was born. She can only hope that she does.
It’s time for Daikichi to see Rin’s mother again. They meet at the same restaurant and as usual, Masako has a delicious-looking dessert. Masako doesn’t remember right away, but remembers soon enough that Daikichi’s grandfather had planted a tree when Rin was born. He then goes to his grandfather’s house to get Rin’s tree so they can replant it at their place. When he digs it up he goes back to his parents’ house where Rin is, and he mentions how Rin has the same type of tree he did. An olive tree.
Mayo Chiki
It’s finally the day of the festival. And more than one problem arises for Kinjirou. The episode starts off fairly well, except that Subaru is upset with him. Kinjirou is being careful not to run into Subaru, and is hoping not to aggravate her more than necessary. After that, he heads off to his date for the day, Usami. Usami is actually looking forward to the date, though she doesn’t want him knowing that. At the start of their date, Kinjirou hadn’t planned anything, and disappoints Usami since he doesn’t seem to care much about her. I can’t blame Kinjirou because he is being blackmailed and he does have a problem with females.
Subaru does show up eventually, still in her female outfit. The two of them fight over Kinjirou, but he is more in tune to what will please Subaru than what will please Usami. Usami takes it as a defeat and plans to withdraw. He notices this, but there isn’t too much time to worry about that because he has to worry about the fight between the two club factions that adore Subaru. Whichever club wins gets to decide Kinjirou’s fate. So both Subaru and Kinjirou fight on the nicer of the two fan clubs. They do find out that Suzutsuki is in charge of the opposing one. Well, she is pretty sadistic. The fight is finished with confessions, rejections, talks of first kisses and then a founding of friendships. Usami finally becomes friends with Kinjirou and Subaru, but I’m pretty sure she has feelings for Kinjirou.
