A girl enters a musical school to compose a song for her idol. That is Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love 1000% in a nutshell. Not only that, she has plenty of guys interested in her at the school. For a reverse harem show, it seems it could have potential. So far, after watching the first episode, it isn’t attracting my attention.
The art style is something that could almost be appealing, but parts of it actually freak me out. The main character, Haruka, has creepy eyes. Her two eye colors, yellow and green, are so alike and so bright that she looks like a creepy doll instead of human. The staff of the school itself is really bizarre and out-of-date in some ways. Mainly the clothes the headmaster comes out in and the clothes of the “famous” Ringo. Their clothes just don’t match what I would call this time period or the atmosphere of a school. The headmaster’s clothes look like it comes from the main opera period when he first appears. There isn’t much to say about the cast of guys that like Haruka. They are all different and in a way I am surprised some of them are in the music school. I would assume some of their parents would rather them go to a different school, like a business one, to learn their family’s trade instead of going into music. The main problem I have is that they all like the plain-looking Haruka, except for her eyes of course, instead of her prettier friend, Tomochika Shibuya. I’m sure that’s just how they want it to work, but if all these guys are popular it is a little strange.
The reason why Haruka is at the school is what intrigues me the most, but if the story doesn’t shape up I can’t see myself watching much more of it.
